Bubbles have long held a fascination for me. The endlessly changing colors, stirred together by the laws of physics. Ever-changing shapes dancing to the whims of breeze and humidity. Funhouse surface reflections painting a surreal impression of the surroundings, quantum fluid dynamics in action. Some astrophysicists see resemblances between the distribution of matter in the cosmos and the shapes of bubbles. See: Multiverse.
So, it was pure synchronicity to meet a Bubble Professional, Alan Kier, of Carlsbad, CA. I was out walking the beach of an evening, and what should appear in the distance but a huge bubble, undulating, flashing lurid colors, absolutely otherworldly. If there were Alien spaceships, this was it. I lost not a moment in tracking down the source, and commencing to blaze away, putting a new Nikon through its paces.
